i been working on some 38 hand loads 3.4 grains of bullseye and 158 grain berry hard cast lead

The load sounds ok. What are you shooting it in? What is your purpose? I load 148 grain Wadcutters, 150 grain SWCs and 172 grain SWCs in both .38 Specials and .357 Magnums.

I cast all my bullets out of Old Wheel Weights, drop them from the moulds into a bucket of water and lube with Alox.
