First Week

Thank goodness for cold weather up north. Our first week was unseasonably cold and the bags showed it.
Our first nine days:
30 mallards 16 drakes 14 hens
37 scaup
10 canvasbacks
7 teal
4 gadwalls
3 widgeon
1 redhead
1 pintail
1woodduck
1 shoveler
and 7 canada geese

by far the best start we've ever had on the Mississippi, tempos are now in the 60's and the ducks won't come out and play.

there are several species on that list that just one nice drake would make this puddle jumper's season. i would be thrilled for a season that includes that mix. it appears it will be warming for our opener. they throw us one retarded week before shutting us down for deer season

I almost wish they would do that here, our first 3 days of deer season is next weekend and I'll spend the time wondering how things are in the blind. I guess I'd rather hunt birds instead.
