Better you could not kill a wolf to protect pets or live stock many pets have been snatched by them and the dnr was not allowed to dispatch problim wolfs they had to
relocate them and we know what happens with that.
If you have live stock killed they are supposed to reinberse you but pets dont count or hunting dogs.
The other problim i have hurd of is by the time the dnr arrive coyotes have been on it to and sense most the time they kill calfs it makes it hard to tell witch has killed it.
There have been lots of disagrements becouse of wolfs in mich locals have went frome being real tolerent to killing them and in the past were the best help the dnr had.
There are all typs of problims when you take away local controll that should no more then the then the do gooder in Dc.
Just the changeing of the clasification can change how things are handeled here even if they do not intend on a seasen any time soon here.

Well, best of luck to both of you in your fights. Whenever the federal gov't interferes with something like this it never works, and sometimes it doesn't even work on the local level depending on what type of person you have in office.

Actually, that entire statement you just made I agree with. I can't stand the tree huggers either, they are no different up here than in other states other than the fact that they haven't made any headway up here... yet!

Wolves don't care of the people that care for them, but they ARE a caring animals as far as their own families (packs) are concerned, but they (like us) are also a vicious cold-blooded killer ... lots of times I think people love or hate the wolf because they ARE much like us in their actions.

Don't get me started on humanizing animals - I have nine large dogs, they ARE my kids and better behaved and more well-manered critters you won't find More so than my human kids!! lol

Had a friend from Nenana who had a pack of sled dogs. Left 3 in his Land Cruiser. Ate his seats..Literally in 15 minutes. Thought it was funnier than he!!. Laughed till I cried. Just think of all the nauga's it took to make those naugahyde seats. I actually know of a gal who thought it was a real animal that they made naugahyde seats out of. The lights were on..but nobody was home...Like most of the tree huggers.

Nah...wolves are nothing like us..They kill their own food...we have someone else do it for us. except for hunters of course.

Three dogs and 15 minute, HA that's nothing...LOL I had a wolfdog MANY years ago and when I went into the hospital to have my first kid he ate the COUCH... literally... there was NO stuffing left AT ALL... I kept waiting for fluff to come out his nether ends.... heheheh.

I like Skeet's idea of turning some wolves loose in Central Park. I think that would be a nice wake up call to the tree-hugging eco-terrorists that want to save all the cute furry creatures while being ignorant of the implications of doing so.

While we do not have much, if any, of a wolf problem where I live, the coyotes are the real culprits out here. Many a pet and even vulnerable livestock have been taken by a 'yote, and there are too many cases of 'yotes attacking children and even adults. We do have a season for these buggers, and there is no bag limit. While I am unsure of the effectiveness of this 'management' practice, I am confident it has made some impact to manage these predators.

I do believe there should be some sort of season on wolves in those areas where they (the wolves) are throwing the ecosystem out of balance. And I strongly feel that the people who should make and govern those (hunting season) regulations should be from those areas. The people (read "politicians and any other anti-hunting and eco-terrorist special interest group") in D.C. and elsewhere are so far disconnected (particularly geographically) from Wyoming, Alaska, and any other area that is or may be impacted by the wolf-density problem, that they are the last people who should have any say in how wolf populations should be managed.

and coyotes are 10 times worse than wolfs....and house cats are much worse than coyotes....
