Primers for .557/450 Martini Henry

Quick question, what kind of primers do they take?

Also I guess since Im here, any Aussies reload for it, and/or buy ammo for it?

No good news, I'm afraid.

According to my Cartridges of the World #9, the 577/450 MH can be found with different sizes of primers. By different companies or at different times, they were loaded with either the Berdan #1 or Berdan #2. But never with any Boxer primer.

So they're going to be a bit difficult to deprime and reprime - even assuming you can find the right size Berdan primers. Original cases fired with blackpowder and mercuric primers are almost certainly embrittled, corroded or both, anyway. Unusable.

Unless there's a source of modern cases with Boxer primer pockets. If so, they'd most surely be Large Rifle.

Now the surprise. I'm not sure about the import situation, but you can buy currently loaded ammo for this beast! It's at Old Western Scrounger (LINK)

They don't mention how it's primed, but it is loaded with blackpowder and a 450 lead bullet. $29.95 for ten rounds.
