Adam, how's the hunt going?

Well, Adam, you told us about your plans for the upcoming muzzleloader deer season in Pennsylvania – which is now in its fifth day. So how has it gone? What rifle and projectile did you finally decide to use? Any success? And I define “success” as having a great time enjoying the outdoors and the stealth of the hunt, not just the taking of game. Any good stories to tell?

MaIIIa,

I went out opening day with the .54 Renegade caplock and a maxi conical. It was unusually cold for October and all I got was a nice walk in the farm woods. Last Monday I went afield with a .45 T/C flintlock and maxis. I got a shot late in the day and fortunately missed clean. The light was fading and the fire and smoke from the flinter were most impressive. Tomorrow is the last day and I will hunt with a .54 Cabela's flinter and round ball. I have not seen any bucks and I will keep looking for "all the big bucks" antler restrictions should be producing now.

Adam
