A friend wanted to acquire a decent military rifle at a reasonable price. He checked various websites and asked if he should order one of the $295, $395 or $495 models on one site. I advised him to visit a local gun shop and look at what was available. We agreed to meet yesterday and spent an hour going over the racks of surplus rifles.

He liked a 1903A3 Springfield but paled at the $600 hang tag price. The Moison Nagants and Enfields were interesting and priced about right. Then we came across an unissued Yugoslav 24/47 with matching numbers, a perfect bore and a lovely walnut stock and handguard. He bought it for $160 and was thrilled. I considered charging a finder's fee (LOL). I suspect he will shoot this rifle in an upcoming Battle of the Bulge match at our club.

All the best...

This chap is so happy with that 24/47 he emails me about once a day asking questions and telling me how happy he is with this rifle. It shot a bit high at the range. He ordered a higher front sight blade from Gun Parts Corporation and is good to go. All the best...
