I was in a gun shop the other day and saw a Siamese Mauser on the used gun rack. I picked one up a few years ago for $80.00. The one in the gun shop had a hang tag price of $400.00. Wow! I have seen these rifles sporterized and rebarreled into .45/70. Now that would be nice set up. If I found a sporterized Siamese Mauser, I might try that. All the best...

It is truly a sign of the times. The supply of Mausers is rapidly diminishing and as demand increases the prices get crazy.
I ran across a copy of Golden State Arms Corp. catalog copyright 1958. Kar98 listed for $28.50 .
Keep looking for a bargain!

I barreled several for 45-70. Loading a 405 gr bullet to about 2200 was a pretty impressive brush gun.
I still have one that I built up in 33 Winchester, mostly for lead bullet target shooting.
The Japanese did a great job building these rifles. The actions are really nice to work with.

A Siamese Mauser is interesting and I got one to round out my military collection. I have not seen one for sale for a long, long time. Take care...
