Do not use too much lube. That just attracts dust in autos and makes them jam even more. I use a little bit on the rails of the action and that is about it. Haven't had any jams with my 391's and only a couple with the SBE, but the jams on the SBE were partly or mostly due to cold weather and light loads.

As far as a proper breakin procedure, I would say a couple of rounds of sporting clays ought to get you used to the gun. Shooting an autoloader is just like shooting an o/u as far as break in is concerned.

Then again, you are shooting a Winchester, so it might have to be pampered a little bit. LOL If you don't know me already, I have to bad mouth Browning almost every chance I get and since the Winchester is the same gun as the Browning Gold 3.5", I have to give it a little too.
