Guns & Ammo responded
I got a reply from the editor of G&A and he acknowledged the error. All the best...
Gil Dear Editor: Thank you for the response. To be honest, the Yugoslav Model 48 and 48A are '98 clones and are dimensionally different and most parts will not interchange with a '98. In addition, the Kar98k is much smoother and better made than the Yugoslav clones. All the best... Gil "Venola, Richard" <Richard.Venola@IMOutdoors.com> wrote: Dear Gil: You’re right. We were working off a small photo image and didn’t note that the archive photo was of a 98 variant. The upper handguard is much too long and the rifle depicted appears to be a Yugoslav Model 48 or 48A and certainly not worth $800.00 dollars. I have great respect for Mr. Garry James and your magazine and believe a corrected picture should be displayed to avoid confusing your readers. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
