Yes, there was equal time
Last year, I used a Kar98k to shoot the match while I ran it. My fellow shooters were surprised at how fast the bolt could be cranked in rapid fire using stripper clips. This was a fun match and the scores were not reported to the NRA.
This year, the match was an Approved NRA Tournament and the Match Director (myself) cannot shoot in any match they run. I offered the same Kar98k to my nephew, but he preferred his M1 Garand. All the best... Gil
