Buy whatever you feel comfortable using. Get one of each type if your financial situation allows. I carry several mouth calls, a box call, a slate call, a glass call, along with several strikers for the slate and glass. My vest weighs around 75 lbs. when loaded.

As far as brand, I'm not really stuck on one or another. I have Lynch and Knight & Hale boxes, Primos and HS glass calls, a Quaker Boy slate, and Primos mouth calls, aomng others. All of these make reasonably accurate trukey sounds and I am happy with them all.

Now is a pretty good time to begin practicing with any and all of your calls, especially new calls. Do it in seclusion so you don't drive your family nuts.
