A couple of comments about the Bahamas:
1. Warm, pleasant weather. Palm trees, beaches, clear water, nice people. 2. Stay away from the tourist traps. Everything at our hotel was outrageously priced: $5.25 for a quart of bottled water, $30 an hour for dial-up internet, $14 for a BLT sandwich. Downtown Nassau is a lot cheaper. 3. If you're in the West, there are a lot of equally pleasant places to go, for a lot less money, a lot closer to home. A lot of New Yorkers end up in the Bahamas for vacation. 4. Your road-crossing habits are totally backwards, since they drive on the left. It is very easy to look the wrong way, and to step out into traffic. 5. Unbelievable yachts are tied up there. Some of them are the size of a destroyer. |
