Skeet, the 6x45 is the 222 Rem case necked up to 6mm.
It was primarily a bench rest match wildcat- light sporter class BR shooting required 6mm (minimum) bore. Back in the day when the 222 was the leading BR cartridge, the 6x45 was used a lot, too. So was the 6x47, which is the 222 Rem magnum necked up to 6mm. The latest Hodgdon manual has data for both cartridges, I believe.
