Maybe there is one worthwhile element to all this. I've heard that some of the weapons offered up in these buy back programs are really pitiful, actually dangerous to life and limb. Should you pass away and any of these weapons end up with a favorite nephew, cousin or such, someone could get hurt. It is indirectly a method of getting rid of them by destroying the gun. That aspect of the buy back program appeals to me. Otherwise, forget about it. What does irk hell out of me is that usually these buy back deals are "no questions asked" affairs. My government puts me through much misery and aggravation for a license (FAC) to buy a weapon, but will sanction an unlicensed persons getting rid of a weapon without even caring how it was obtained, or what crimes may have been commited with it.
