New CZ 452

Hi All,

I am just wondering why you are jumping to "Free Float" the barrel without trying other ammo in your new rifle? Although I do not have a CZ 452, I have the older Model 2 made in 1965 which didn't need a trigger kit as the trigger is crisp as glass.

Everyone seems to immediately jump to the conclussion that it needs a floated barrel if the rifle is bedded to the stock properly and the inletting done right then it won't need a floated barrel in most cases. Funny thing is that the real old time gunsmiths fitted the wood to the metal properly using real seasoned wood, the real good wood was air dried over time, the cheap stuff was Kiln dried. Now the good stuff is "Kiln dried" perhaps this is the problem? improperly seasoned wood moves over time possibly.

My CZ Model 2 has it's factory bedding and shoots just fine, OK it does not like some ammo like Winchester Lazer, in fact I have never found the hyper velocity ammunition to be as accurate as the std velocity stuff or the normal High Velocity come to that.

So try some different ammo and give it a while not one or two groups and jump to conclussions. I have a sporting rifle here made in 1908 and the bedding is still the same as it left the factory, I have even had it serviced by the factory just after I aquired it and they checked it against their recorcds and it's not been altered in any way. Some how I can't see a lot of the modern rifles reaching this feat
