Mr. 16 gauge,

The Lyman Black Powder Handbook says on page 75 that the maximum load of Goex 3F in a .44 C&B with 138 grain ball is 37.0 grains. My accuracy load in my Remington 1858 New Army is 25 grains and a .454" ball. My revolver shoots to point of aim. If yours is 4" low at 25 yards, I would just hold to the top of the bull and let the front sight alone since you also shoot conicles. I think you will find higher velocity loads shoot lower due to shorter barrel time.
