				Redfield Tracker

I was looking through SWFA and came across the Redfield Tracker. Is this scope worth having? I noticed the price is quite low... but I thought Redfield was a quality brand... Can any of you give me some info on this scope?

			Thanks,

Redfield of Denver TRACKERS are a real bargan. Trackers from the BLOUNT era are over priced Simmons IMHO.

I had a Redfield (Denver) Tracker on my Rem 700 Varmiter until I could save for my Nikon Monarch. And it was great for the money. I am waiting to see what Meade does with Redfield. It sure can't get any worse.

				Redfield Tracker

I have both old and new Redfield Trackers. My Tracker SE was purchased in 1962 when I bought one of the first Remington Mod. 700's in 7MM REm Mag. This scope has been perfect in every way since the day I bought it. On the other hand the Tracker I bought about 4 years ago lasted about 1 year before major problems appeared. I took the rifle it was on to the range and when I first looked through it the top half of the vertical cross hair was gone. I decided to try shooting the gun anyway because I only had that one gun with me that day. Suprisingly it still shot to point of aim. After find out where to send it for repairs when I took it off the rifle I discovered that the whole reticle had come loose and was rattling aroud inside the tube. Redfield would not honor the warranty because it was was purchased before Blount bought Redfield. I was told none of the older Redfields would be warratied any longer. Only the ones made in Japan would be covered. So much for the "Lifetime Warranty" and buying American. I was told to send it to ABO Opitics in Florida and they would fix it in 6 to 8 weeks for $26 plus shipping. After they had it for 14 weeks I called them and someone who could barely speak English said It was fixed and scheduled to be shipped that day. For some I feel If I hadn't called it would still be in Florida. anyway I've learned my lesson and the next scope I bought was a Leupold as will any I buy in the future
