I wasn`t trying to talk you out of the .17 Rem. eather. If you are going to get a new gun I would take the .17 Rem. hands down over the .223. They both do about the same thing, but the .17 Rem. will do it alot farther out. If you rember the little .17 Ackley Hornet I was carring when I was out there, I would put it up against the .223 for killing range and the .17 Rem. is far better than the .17 AH. There is nothing wrong with the .223, but the .22-250 or the .17 Rem. will do the same job 75 to 100 yrds. farther. I`ve got all of them, so which do I carry? Most of the time none, a .222 Rem. Contender handgun with a 12 in barrel. All of the above will do the same thing it will at far greater distances, but it does what I need and it the lightest I`ve got that does what I need done.
