If your looking for a lite carrey gun your going to have to get yourself a Contender frame in a carbine. For abt $200 you can put another barrel on it. Them won`t take the larger rifle rounds, but .222, .223, .17 rem. or .204 will all work. I`ve got a .17-223 barrel for a Contender I`m not useing if you want to give that a try. It`s abt. the same as the .17 Rem. I still think that the .204 is probibly your best choice if you get it in the right gun. BUT, then again, there really isn`t all that much difference in the preformance of any of these round, and for a carry gun all will work well if you like the feel of the gun.
