First off i apologise for the necro-post, but i saw something today related to it.
At the place i do my surplus shopping, they had a fair number of rifles that i thought looked like K-31's but were most definately shorter then normal. I know there is/was a "carbine" version, this was was roughly the length of a M44 carbine, I'm just curious because the only ones i have ever seen were noticeably longer.
