GAS INFO UPDATE,.....

Prices here in Upstate NY went down .2 cents yesterday,...but are to rise again by the weekend by .4 cents.

WAS : 2.47 a gal.
NOW: 2.45 a gal.
WEEKEND POSSIBLE: 2.49 a gal.

It has been said that by August $3.00 a gal will be the norm.
And with Emily moving in,...we could be seeing a rise in gas prices early as next week.

You know what I think? I think its all a bunch of BS. Iraq OWES us alot. We paid dearly for them to rid themeselves of a tyrant. We paid dearly to help them start their own country and at least have a chance at a good life. We saved Kuwaits ass a decade ago from the same tyrant. And, in a way, Saudi Arabia. They were no doubt next on the hit list.

We should see some returns on that investment soon. They have plenty of oil. Instead of worrying about three dollar plus oil, we should be looking forward to gas under a buck. Someone, OPEC and the refineries, are getting rich. This is total BS, at our expense.

There is no oil shortage. There is no energy shortage of any kind. Water, wind, solar, all kinds of energy are renewable. Oil isnt, not quickly anyway, but there is plenty of it. Maybe its time we quit lining the pockets of the big companies and start using some of our own right here in our mainland, offshore and Alaska. Let the middle east suck on that for a while and maybe they will be happy to make a few billion a month instead of a few trillion.

I guess you can take what I think and a few dollars and go get a gallon of gas though......

Andy

Edit,
Although it makes good economic sense, and probably good sense all the way around, it is a crying shame that we must burn french fry oil for gods sake, in our vehicles. We give our money, our militarys lives, everything to these bastards and we gotta burn used french fry oil to survive. Something is wrong with this picture.

Does anyone remember the way war used to be? To the victor goes the spoils? What happened to that? If we used that mentality today, we would be back to the good ole fifty cent gas. Maybe we should rethink this a bit. I hear Iraq is beautiful, at least along the rivers. Take over that country, we got all the cheap gas we want, the people can have good jobs running resorts and everyone comes out a winner. We need another state. One with lots of oil and vacation spots. Then maybe we could all afford a vacation.

If we used that mentality, why not just go ahead and take over Syria and Iran as well. They have done nothing but fight us forever. Might as well have their oil as well.

Although ur way may seem,.....

Far fetched,...I am with you brother!!!!

America has become a stepping stone for the goat herders of the middle east,..and what do we as Americans have to show for it except high gas prices and low wages,...and companies closing.
America the free?!
I am starting to wonder if that is even going to be our motto in the next few coming years.?
But as working Americans we cant do nothing until we put a goverment in place that sees it as we do,...and says "Let`s not be led into the valley of death by our enemy" But instead lead them to their fate of doom"!
Take from them what they have been taking from us for years,....their lively hood,....Why should Americans go poor and be without to help a thankless country ,who wants to put us all in the ground,..and take America out of existance all together.?!!!

I say turn the tables ,..open our lines in Alaska and anywhere else we have fuel,...open our stock piles and cut off all relief and aide to those that are recieving it and are thankless for our help.
America is the land of the FREE , and we deserve to be free, as do our childerns childern,...

I am behind you Andy and anyone else that sees it the way you and I do,...

And in closing I would like to say,...if we are to survive and keep our freedom,...and what we have ,..we need to take theirs,..and stop this kindness crap,..or civil actions,...barrerics we need to be, in a barrberic time that we live.

You can count me in on this. Back in the late 1960s, IIRC, they were discussing a special type of nuke called the neutron bomb. It's design made it am extremely dirty bomb that would do little destruction to buildings and other infrastructure, but the radiation would totally wipe out the population. Of course, all the bleeding hearts and the U.N. all objected to so inhumane a weapon, but maybe that wasn't such a bad idea after all. Neutron bomb the entire Middle East, wait the three months for the radiation to dissipate and move on in and take it over. FWIW, there are rumors that Israel does have such weapons.
I've seen in the local paper where half the royal Saudi family wants to cut us off completely and the other half does not. So far, the half that is on our side controls the oil.
Still, I strongly suspect that they are supporting Al Quaida under the table. Most likely the half that hates us anyway, but I would not be surprised if the "friendly" side wasn't involved as well.
Then there is the current president of Venezuala, Hugo Chavez who hates our guts. We get a big portion of our oil from them, and all he has to do is say, "No more oil to the U.S. and just what in hell are we going to do about that? Maybe it's time the CIA started taking up "wet work" again.
I also think it is time the average American quits wringing his hands saying, "Woe is me." and get his head out of his butt and take back his country. Cheap oil? Hell no! Not as long as the oil companies can buy off our politicians. I've said this before, and I'll say this again. "WE HAVE THE BEST GOVERNMENT MONEY CAN BUY!" As long as big business gives the politicians their campaign money, they will always call the shots which will make it easy for them to control our government, quietly under the table.
I don't know about anyone else, but personally, I'M MAD AS HELL!

Just to rescue this thread from political degeneration (I hope), here's a LINK to a site called Gas Buddy. Just click on a state and then search a city to find the lowest - and highest - gas prices with the last three days. It's VERY handy to locate the nearest, cheapest gas, especially if you're on the road. Even if you're at home, you can find a good price - and the places to avoid!

The Full truth here is that America is becoming a hostage to other countries that we deal with,...
DEGENERATION? Well if your saying that we are gettin carried away and out of sight,...Your right Rocky,...America is, & "gas buddy" .com aint making me feel any better.
All it tells me I cant travel anywhere even if I had the money to do so.And it tells me we are losing this war in the middle east and we are no closer to bringing our kids, mothers, fathers, or any of our troops home from the murdering, butchering middle east.
Our goverment needs to open up our supply lines and take care of its own!!!!

Okay, I didn't have the time to read everything posted, but read enough to see where this thread is.

While on vacation this past week, I read a book called "1942" which us written by the author of Forest Gump and it chronicles the beginning of World War II and how the Allies turned the tide. At the end, it also gives a little history of what happened there. A lot of the war was for expansion. Japan needed more land and economic resources because it had out grown its island. Same thing with Germany, but probably not the case with Italy. Anyway, they were all headed to the middle east and the oil that they needed. Japan was negotiating with the US over 2 million gallons of high test airplane fuel when Pearl Harbor happened. So, we saved the middle east yet again, but took nothing. We didn't gain any land whatsoever.

In winning the war, we didn't gain anything and even helped pay to rebuild Europe and Japan. We helped rebuild Europe to help prevent Russia from getting a communist grip on Europe when nobody had jobs after the war. I don't know exactly why we helped Japan out, but maybe we felt sorry about dropping the bomb on it.

In the end, trying to take over any middle eastern country with oil would cause World War III for sure. War and politics aren't an easy thing.

Fabs,I respect ya more then most,...BUT

We are turning into a country that cant even take car of our own,...So really what do we have to lose?!

Our own people are starving, and jobless, and if the gas prices continue (which they are and will),to rise,...theres going to be alot more people out of a job and without a home even.

I think we need to either, crap or get off the pot!
Either our goverment gets off their ARSE`s and allows our troops to do their job,...and get rid of all the terriorist BS and start showing we got some Balls!!!

Otherwise,....we`ll all be seeing America Aid Benefit.

How about a little perspective here.

1980. Gas was $1 a gallon. A candy bar was $.25 and a coke out of a machine was $.25. A pay telephone call was $.10.

2005. A candy bar is $.69. A coke in a machine is $.75-$1.00 and a pay phone call is $.50.

According to that... Gas Should be $2.50-$3.00 a gallon.

Why SHOULD gasoline be immune to the SAME INFLATION that affects everything else?

Gas prices have been artificially LOW for 2 decades. They are just now evening out, and people are in a tizzy. Plus... $.75/gal of the cost of gasoline is TAXES!

Get a grip people!

Americans are plain soft.

I quit a good paying job 3 years ago to go out on my own and see what I could do. The last three years haven't been easy and I have been working a lot more than I did at the firm, if that is humanly possible.

Like I said, I read a book about World War II over my honeymoon and it seems as though the entire World War II events are starting again, just with different characters.

Ten years before World War II, the USA suffered the Great Depression and everybody had the feeling that we should take care of our own problems before looking for others in Europe and the Pacific. Problem is that the problems found us via Pearl Harbor. Then, the Germans and the Japanese were heading to take over the Middle East and that was a huge concern for us.

Today, can you imagine how pissed off China and Russia would be if we took over the Middle East? China is already pissed that Congress is getting involved in a oil company purchase because we are saying it is a matter of national security, which it probably is. Lets keep in mind that both Russia and China have nukes.

Bottom line is that Americans have to suck it up and learn to drive less or use tavel means that are more gas friendly. Gas in Europe was close to $5 a gallon back in 2001 when I visited, but the economic situation didn't seem to be too bad over there. They learned to deal with it.

I have a 2003 F-350, a 1989 5.0 Mustang, a 1998 Taurus and I drive the Taurus way more than any of them because of the gas situation. The truck only has 3,800 miles on it. The wife has a Hyundai Sonata that gets about the same gas mileage as the Taurus, maybe a little better.

If you commute a lot and need a truck for work, you need to seriously consider how much of your time is wasted driving and how much money is wasted on gas. If you get a lower paying job that requires a lot less driving, you will save on gas, your vehicle will last longer, and you will have more free time. In the end, it is up to your personal goals. I had one client, a body man, that was driving 2 hours each way for work because he made more money where he was working and homes cost a lot less where he was living. However, he went through cars left and right, got plenty of speeding tickets, lost his license, etc. It might not have been worth it.

I know that the wife and I will be getting a hybrid when we have to replace one of the cars. Hopefully, the technology will be really good by then. Or in the alternative, we will get a diesel. Right now, we are looking at the Escape Hybrid and hoping that the make an Explorer or Expedition hybrid in the future. Personally, I would buy the Escursion in diesel, but the wife doesn't want to drive something that big.

The issue of taking over the Middle East isn't that simple. Yes, sometimes I think the entire world would be better off if it were under US rule, but I am probably biased.

Do you guys really want to go through a World War over oil?
