You just need to follow the rules about internet dating, and always try to leave notes about phone numbers and people you are supposedly meeting. Think about it, the person that signed up for that internet account must have paid somehow, and not with cash. If anything happened to you, the police wouldn't have too hard of a time tracing who did it.
If you meet somebody at a bar for a one night stand and take that person home, do you really know who that person is? Does anybody else you know, know this person and their details should you not show up the next morning?
