I have not hunted anything but whitetails with the accubond but I can say they are good bullets. I shoot a 300 ultra mag with 180 grain bullets. I shot a buck weighing 125 lbs field dressed and the bullet when through the ribs on the right and out the shoulder on the left. Not much visual damage was shown on the outside. On the inside upon skinning both shoulders were destroyed and the exit shoulder had a hole about 3 inches in diameter. Total lose of the front half of the deer. The other deer I shot was "good eatin". It was a head on shot in the chest and the bullet actually deflected and blew the whole underside of the deer off. Easy cleanup job on that one. I cannot explain why the big deer held the shot and the little one didnt. Although both deer only went no more than 30 yards. In experimenting with different bullets I was shooting phone books to see how they held together. I can say that for a ballistic tip bullet it held together under extreme impacts. I would see no reason why it wouldn't be a great elk bullet. I would probably go up to 200 or 220 grain on a moose. The accubond is also an extremely accurate bullet when handloaded. Mine shouts 3/8" groups at 215 yards. Hopefully this will give you some information from a whitetail hunters point of view.
