With the old 40 gn. Hornet bullets like I used to shoot the max. point blank range, within plus or minus 2 1/2 in., the max. range was 210 yrds. at 2,800 fps. With the new 35 gn. bullets and some of the newer powders it should be alittle more now. The Hornet will do the same job at 210 yrds. as the .223 does at 280 yrds. The Hornet is the original long range varmint round and is still a good choice today, especially where noise is a consern.
