I've never shot the 50 but have twice been next to a fella at the range (he didn't seem especially friendly...probably from all the folks asking to shoot his BMG) that was bench shooting.
The recoil didn't look all that bad with all the goodies (break, tripod, etc.) but the concussion and sound waves went right through your bones to the back of your fillings in your mouth!
Everbody in their stalls would pause (not from courtesy either, mind you) just prior to the 50 launching before even attempting to take their own shots.
