I do the same as Hnter. Saw what it did for breaks, thought, "Hmmm,... maybe." Tried it on a Marlin .22 I have and it worked better than anything else I've found. I will, however, keep it away from the blued areas and always use a lube/protectant spray afterward. My only fear if that it may open up chances of quicker deterioration, but nothing so far in a year and a half of using it (save for cleaner barrels).
