Rut is On on Oklahoma

.......on Thursday evening, I watched a 10 point buck run a doe for over 45 minutes. I watched from a quarter mile away in my truck. At first the doe was laying down, and the buck was 20 yards away on point like a good brittney quail dog. I mean he was locked up solid and didn't move a muscle for over 10 minutes. Then, she jumps up and runs the other side of of thicket and he fell in right behind her. When she stopped the buck nearly ran over her, knocking her forward. She then took off again at full blast for 100 yards and he was running right behind her with his nose on the ground. I thought he resembled Fred Whitfield's calf roping horse, with a concentration that can only be explained by breeding season. Finally, the doe layed down again and the buck went to the nearest tree and just demolished it. I thought at one point he was actually banging his head against the bark. So I guess since rifle season opens in the morning, it's good timing. I think that we've actually been in the rut for a week or so, but the hot weather has kept all activity at night. This scene was something special to watch, and it all went down at 4:00 pm. Good luck to everyone who's hunting the Oklahoma woods this weekend.
