Need advice about waterfowl in Virginia

Where are some good spots to hunt waterfowl in Virginia? For instance, the Eastern Shore of Maryland is known for its waterfowl hunting. I have tried to look for land on-line on Maryland's Eastern Shore and found all of 4 farms and the prices were insane. Then, I looked on-line at farms for sale in Virginia and there were so many that I couldn't even figure out what I was looking at. Plus, the prices seemed a little more reasonable.

I think I am going to bite the bullet and buy a farm with my two brothers. I just need some advice about where the waterfowl are in Virginia.

Fabs, You might want to look around Oyster, Gargothy, or other spots in that area down 13. I flounder fish in the streams down there on the ocean side in the summer and they sure look ducky. I found a real cool B&B down there that is hunter, fishermen, and dog friendly and am wanting to run down and try some duckin.
The people I have encountered have been watermen or farmers and have been eager to give us fishing advice. In fact , by accident we found an elderly lady that has a bait shop in her back yard and it is a must to stop and chat with her and her hubby each trip .
You are right about the shore prices. Saw 45 acres with house trailer 285G and it was sold in three days.

Fabs Rubicon is right. Check out the Eastern Shore of Va. Understand now..you won't see many geese down there and for ducks you will have to have waterfront. Even there it is VERY expensive. I do happen to know of a small island for sale down there. A duck club has(or had) it for sale...Near Onancock. Price was right too. BTW the best ducking there is on the Chesapeake bay side of the peninsula..fishing too for that matter. Try to find a small (or large) farm down the shore past Exmore or at least below Parksley. Different down there than even on the eastern shore. and a whole lot farther. Do it soon. Places are even getting pricey down there. Course I have a nice little place on the shore for sale. Deer and geese included. Bout a 1000 geese in the pond as I write this..50 yds away. Easy shot. hehehe

Fabs...eastern shore is a good bet..however..waterfowl here can be anywheres east of the blue ridge. In the hunt club, our land included an impassable 285 acre swamp. I used to sit in a treestand we called the "cadillac stand" from time to time. It was on the edge of that swamp. I bet my weeks pay that I would see an easy 50 ducks a day flyin in and out. Every day.
We also had a food plot planted in a powerline that stretched across the big swamp...shoot...the dern geese tore it up fore the deer even got a chance to eat any of it. Another thing them ole geese love is a cow pasture. Dam things flock round here by the hundreds in a cow field and the farmers throw a caniption fit..and we caint shoot em off fast enough fer em. Mind you...I'm an hour 15 mins. west of Richmond.
Anythin east of Richmond can be a good bet..but they have these migratin "paths" that they stay on most of the time. And the eastern shore is grown up somethin fierce..and still growin.
Places like Charles City county and such are good places fer geese. They migrate perty much all over..ducks and geese both..I'm not sure of a solid path they run on the eastern shore.
Shoot we have more resident ducks & geese than migratory ones.
