7mm STW
Hi Rick,
My experience is extremely limited but I did help a friend get one ready for a moose hunt in Canada last year. Good news is that the moose went down with one shot at approximately 200-yards (as reported to me) and the guides were impressed. The Rem 700 action had a custom 26-inch barrel with a muzzle brake and a thumbhole stock -- big & heavy! With the brake, recoil was no problem off the bench. A box of 20 cartridges, with premium bullets, set us back over $40. Better reload or be rich. There are a lot of good 7mms out there and I predict the STW version won't last long. I'm with Evan03 -- get a 280. My 2-cents worth, 270man |
