Barnes Triple-Shocks
Well the loads are done and I plan to go to the range in the morning. I ended up loading the following:
Remington cases - new Barnes Triple-shock X-bullet 53-grain XFB Federal Premium Large Rifle Match Primers No. GM210M Hodgdon - Varget powder I loaded fifty rounds, ten of each of 5 powder amounts. My middle powder amount was 33.5 grains of Varget. I choice this starting point after Barnes advised me to use the load data which is printed for their 53-grain regular XFB bullet. The max load for this bullet is 35.5 grains Varget. I ended up with ten rounds each of the following powder amounts 32.5,33.0,33.5,34.0,34.5. Tomorrow I will shoot five of each rotating the shots at five different bulleyes, numbered 1-5. Each load will be assigned a number corresponding with a bulleye and all five rounds of the same powder amount will be shoot at the same bulleye. Hopefully one round will stand out. If that round is in the middle, then I've found my ideal load. If it on the end then I'll load two above or two below depending on which end. I will return on another day and shoot the second five of each powder amount to see if I get the same results. |
