Waters wrote a pretty good article about the 1-in-9 twist .22-250.

The easiest thing to do might be to find someone who has a copy of "Pet Loads." Put out by Wolf Publishing, its a collection of Water's monthly writings.

you have an excellent memory. Mr Waters wrote that article when hector was a puppy.

last i heard ken is doing fine. i sure miss his articles in handloader and rifle though. he was a no "BS" kind of guy and if he published a load you could bet the farm that it worked.

i followed his advice on the 220 swift. he wrote in one of his tomes that the swift didn't have to hit mach 2 to be efficient and get the job done. he sure was correct. read his material in the late 50's and early 60's. he is one of the reloading gods i respect. of course this was back in the days when you reloaded and when you had to take off your boot to knock the bolt open you knew you had a reached the optimum load. might want to back off a tad on that load. the only people that had chronographs were the ballistic labs and maybe some of the bullet companies.

this is a much more cival time that we live in now.

i have a 22-250 ai, one in nine twist that i use for 1000 yd shooting. it works great untill the wind blows, then problems appear. thats when i switch to my 308. i don't shoot any thing at those ranges except paper. on a good day both will shoot sub 10" groups if i do my part.
