M1 Carbine production

According to Smith ans Smith in "The Book of Rifles" and W.H.B. Smith in "Small Arms of the World", there were about 7,130,000 M1 Carbines produced. None were ever made at Springfield Armory. The carbine makers were: Inland (Div.of General Motors) 2,625,000, Winchester 809,451, Underwood Elliot Fisher 545,616, Rochester Defense Corporation, Quality Hardware 359,662, Saginaw Steering Gear 739,136, Rock-Ola 228,500, National Postal Meter 413,017, Standard Products 247,155 and I.B.M 346,500. Hope this helps. If you find one in decent shape at a reasonable price, grab it. All the best...
Gil
