This morning I had a big doe cross the tractor road 25 yards in front of me, and she is still calling this old farm her home.

I was walking my dog, Lori, up to the big hayfield and all I had was a .357 revolver on my hip in case we met another raccoon. I have never shot a doe that was uninjured and will not kill one as our deer herd is far too small, in my opinion.

Last Saturday was opening day for ML deer and early small game of grouse and squirrel. I could not get out of the house without Lori, so I took the 20 gauge and Lori for a walk about. We saw no deer, but I did shoot a grouse that Lori flushed. October is half over and I regret seeing my favorite month pass by so quickly.
