Again I have not shot one but a buddy of mine said that the 7mm Remington Mag has more punch than a 30/06 but less recoil. Is he right?
Recoil is the result of wgt (bullet + powder) and velocity, caliber has nothing to do with it. A bullet of a given wgt driven at a given speed from any equal wgt rifle will recoil with very close to the same force. A 7mm Mag with a 150 gr bullet will recoil more the a 30-06 with the same wgt bullet due to more powder wgt in the formula and a added 150 or so fps.
The 270 with a 150 gr bullet at 2900 fps recoils the same as a `06 with 150 gr bullets at 2900 fps in same wgt rifles..................I think I`ll quit before I confuse myself
