It has to do with Aircraft Serial Numbers.
56-0075 would be known as Balls seven five. The 56 desiginates the year of production and was usualy followed the number of aircraft produced in numerical order. At the end of a years production the #'s would start 001 again. I only worked on three aircraft that had production numbers in more than one year. They were the F-100, F-4 and the F-106. To the point Double Zeros are Balls in AF lingo. Best wishes, Bill |
