Mac,
You are a wordy fellow.
I have only owned one semi-auto pistol in my life.
It was a Colt and I was raised shooting a 1911 ACP.
My first mis-fire was the second round in the clip from factory ammo. The next round failed to go to battery. After disassembling the gun and stoning all the burrs off every moving part, I got it as good as it ever shot.
I never did get that gun to shoot reliably. The best was about 95%. 1 or 2 rounds for each magazine would fail to feed or the slide would not return to battery. Maybe it was just a bad gun.
I carry a revolver because I have never had a failure to fire or a failure to feed. I got the same accuracy with both guns and I enjoyed shooting both. I did not like hunting for my brass after firing each target with the auto-loader in order to reload.
I shoot a lot and I reload. I prefer revolvers to semi's hands down. I always will.
