According to the resolution's sponsor, Council Member Robert Jackson of Manhattan, the issue is a matter of fairness, as Muslim students make up a significant percentage of the public school population
translation: there are 2 parents per student who can vote for me if i can get this thing passed. no different than pelosi wanting to tax retirement income to benefit illegal aliens who make up a big percentage of her voting block.
