I don't think I paid more than $200 for mine 8 years ago. I did exactly what Rocky is advising. I bought a cheap 10/22 brand new just for the receiver. Everything got replaced after that. I put the following on the gun:

Hogue overmolded stock
Volquartsen trigger release
Extended mag release
Scope rings with a Burris 3-9x on it
Butler Creek carbon fiber barrel that was junk and has since been replaced with a Green Mountain barrel
Harris bipod

I love shooting this gun, but have yet to kill anything with it.
