				A classic!

Tomorrow (12/12) the movie "Jeremiah Johnson" will be on either AMC or TCM channel (cable).......this movie is one of the major reasons I became interested in traditional muzzleloading, so I plan on starting a fire in the fireplace using flint & steel, wrapping myself up in my buffalo robe, plopping my arse on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and watching one of the greatest movies of all time (despite what my wife and daughter think!

)Just given ya'll a heads up........ watch yer topknot! ![]()

Its a awesome movie. I cannot immagine living a life like that. No central AC, heat, stove, storm door and windows, and mostly a Big Screen TV. I don't have to toughness to live like that except for about two weeks.

			Mr. 16 gauge,

I will watch the movie, again. There are a few subtle things to watch for: First, he gets a .36 or .40 Hawken (?) early on and Redford says, "Well at least it is a Hawken." Later he gets a .50 Hawken off a frozen corpse. When Redford uses his horse for a shield to shoot an elk, watch him use a powder horn to prime a PERCUSSION rifle. I know, it will make no difference to the untrained eye. LOL. Adam

I don't even think the Hawken brothers made a .30 cal rifle.....this has been bandied about on other websites, and the best explanation I have heard is that it was a typo in the script that wasn't caught. I'll have to watch the elk hunt scene again for the priming the caplock with a powder horn. There is also a scene somewhere in the movie where he gets two shots out of the gun w/o reloading.....don't remember where it is, though. Quote:
