Very good question. I believe the "loose" situation is a stretching of the brass frame out-of-square so to speak and the distance from hammer fall to cap gets longer and lkess reliable in firing. If the brass frame "gives" with continued firing, moving it back to "square" configuration may not be permanent. Adam
