Ok talked to the owner again and he is using 7.62x54r (thankfully) in the gun. I will try to get with him next week about getting it into my grubby grubby hands.

Depends on what model and what year here in mich we see them for around 100 bucks.
I have a 44 but i didnt no that the 44 didnt realy come out till after ww2. I beleave colectors like the 1891 and the 91/30 i could be wrong becouse i have not did a hole lot of home work on them.
