1 hour

thats about all the time I was in the woods for the opener. Found an illegal treestand right where I was hoping to hunt. Set up in another area and enjoyed the rising sun.......until the neighbor's dogs came running through,

Gave up and went to town for breakfast instead. Trucks parked EVERYwhere along the road - sure no shortage of hunters this year

looking forward to getting out for the ML season. I prefer hunting in snow

right now Im trying to find a spot to bag a drake wood duck to have mounted for the shack

Gave up on Michigan deer hunting long ago......got tired of sitting in the woods and seeing nothing but squirrels and other hunters (LOTS of them!). Hunted N.C. a couple of years ago and it is definetly much better!
Also, I think that all the bickering on the websites about antler restrictions, baiting vs nonbaiting, cross bows, ect. had left a bad taste in my mouth.....why are hunters so ready to restrict/abolish someone else's way of hunting, but demand the right to do it "their" way?
.....I just don't get it.

The way it works in our camp is if you are legal you are good with us.
Being a person that has hunted other states i do have to agree that there are lots of politics to hunting in mich.
Like when i take my kids hunting i incourage them to shoot what they want i dont care if it is a doe buck or a yearling as long as they have a legal tag for it i let them decide.
Hunting is about getting out and haveing fun first and the rest will fallow.
16 gauge i would have to say you need a new area and a new group of guys to hunt with guys that just want to hunt.
I will be heading out with my son sunday and when we go out i dont intend on me killing deer thats not why i am there.
