Rapier, Take care of those eyes. An old firend was obviously trying to shoot from his right shoulder using his left eye. I asked him about that and he got angry. I didn't care and told him to please see an eye specialist; opthamologist. He waited a year to do so and when he passed away two years ago, was blind from macular degeneration. Have your doctor do the tests for macular degeneration, gluacoma (sp), and cataracts. When you get older, cataracts are almost a given. Macular degeneration can be treated if caught in the early stages. Do yourself a lare favor and have your eyes checked once a year, at least after 65 .

We may kid around with some things but the eyes we get squared away, right off. I have been shooting in competition since 1965 and seeing perfectly, comes with the territory in shooting. I notice very small things and even the small items are of major concern. So I keep an "eye" on my vision.
Unfortunately, as we get older all manner of bad things start to happen to us and the eyes are only issued two to a customer. After the cataracts are dealt with we will have a short period of time and then we will have to get up with a donor, as during this process it was discovered that I have Cornea cell degeneration on the reverse or back side of my corneas. So in the not to distant future we will be doing a cadaver cornea transplant, both eyes. That will not be my first cadaver piece or part. My left shoulder was rebuilt with cadaver parts. Sort of like Frankenstein and the Million Dollar man all mixed together. ![]() Yes, I am a donor myself, but It looks like I might have all my pieces and parts all worn out. ![]() Ed

Ah yes, the eyes, very important pieces of equipment. Hope all goes well Ed, I may be on one of those waiting beds one of these years . . .
![]() Still on original eyes, but these $700- glasses every couple years is getting to me. These latest, called gleitschicht or progressive, near, middle, and far are a genuine pain. Very tough to read anything. Save the seeing eye dog for Plan B and hope you never need it ![]() |
