I decided to drop in again on this subject as another complication has reared its ugly head. I went in to see the doc today for my one week checkup after surgery and after extensive testing it was determined that we will not be doing the second eye on the 21st, as we must do the first eye again on the 21st.

Here is the complication, I had Lasik surgery done 12 years ago. The Lasik procedure can cause early onset cataracts, as is my case. However and here comes the zinger, the modification by the Lasik laser makes calculating a proper lens for correction a good bit more complicated and so the projected lens that I needed and which was inserted was off by two points. This possibility was all explained prior to the surgery and it was hoped the calculations would be correct, which has not proven to be the case. So like any good craftsman, the surgeon, is not satisfied with his work, which can in fact, luckily, be redone for better results, so we go back for round two.

I only go through this thread to let you guys know that Lasik is wonderful, but like most things man made there can be problems and this is just one of those things that can come up. We, those who are lucky enough to have lived this long, are looking at some very wonderful advances in medicine and even with the problems, we are so very fortunate to have a great medical system and products.

Now if we get round two right, two things will happen, no glasses after and the second eye will be right the first time. So now we cross our fingers and have a go again.
