Well, went to the feast today....was a bit disappointed by the lack of black powder firearms and related events. Some of the vendors were selling possibles bags made of animal skins (with the heads as the flaps), and there were a few horns for sale, but for the most part it was wooden kids toys (rifles, swords, tomahawks) & games, jewelry, pottery, and wooden boxes that made up most of the vendor tents. Can't help but feel that that is caused by just a little more than 'political correctness' and insurance issues. There were some cannon firing demonstrations, but I wasn't present for any of those.
Food was typical "fair" fare, with hot dogs, turkey legs, ect. Did have soup in a bread bowl, with black bean soup cooked over a wood fire in a large, iron cauldron.
Ended up buying a peacock feather for my daughter (she wanted me to buy a whole **** peacock, just for a feather!), a small silver charm for my wife, and a couple of flints for myself for my fire starting kit.
Anyway, here are a few photos....should say that overall it was a good time; I can think of a lot more worse things that I could have been doing today.
