Simply because there is an enormous amount of BS sent around via e mail and other ways on the Internet. If you don't think so, you must not be getting the Nigerian bank offers to make you a millionaire.  Separating truth from fiction isn't always easy. Now, I have no idea whether this story fits that category or not. I got curious when I clicked on the link in Rapier's post and got "404 error. Sorry, the page you are seeking doesn't seem to be here" on McMillian's site. If you read Snopes' entry on this subject, they didn't say it was true or false. They did ask BOA for a comment, and posted BOA's reply- letting you decide for yourself.
