My uncle was aboard the USS Maryland on that date. It sustained damage to the forward part of the ship but was able to return to the states for repair. He was transferred to the USS Massachusetts where he served for the remainder of the war.

He never spoke much of it until I enlisted in 1966. He told me that he saw the Arizona get hit and explode. Never really got over it. He is gone now but I think of him every 12/8.

my dad was stationed at Pearl. He never talked about his service time ......but the anniversary date was always a solemn time around our house
