I guess this one is still too new to elicit much of a response to your question 300 Wby. I certainly don't have any experience with it either.
But here is my dilema - 375 Ultra, the old steady H&H, or a 416 Rigby????????? Would love to read "all about them", esp everybody's likes and dislikes, so I can get Santa aimed in the right direction.

Pancio, I can't comment on the 375 ultra mag but I do own a 375 H&H and a 416 Rem. mag. I shoot 270 gr. Hornady in the 375 and 300 gr. Barnes X bullets in the 416. I use these guns for Carabou and bear hunting but they would be good for anything from deer on up. I would change the bullets to something heavier for African game,
Back to the subject either cratridge is great, the 375 with 270 gr. bullets has the same trigectory as a 30-06 the 416 Rem. with 300 gr. is a little flatter shooting. I don't feel the recoil is any worse then shooting a 300 mag with 180 gr. bullets. If I were to get one rifle my pick would be the 416, the Rigby and Rem. have the same performance the Rem. requires more pressure to match the Rigby.
