Another older Marlin!
I found this 1957 Marlin 336 RC, straight stock carbine at a gun show this weekend up in Jacksonville. It is chambered in .35 Remington. I have wanted one like this for some time.
I could not find any 200 grain Core-Lokt here, so I ordered some off the internet. The 4X32 Kassnar scope came with it, I added the sling this morning. The rifle is in beautiful shape. Bore is perfect, no rust, no dings. It was a bit spendy, at $325, but one this nice is hard to find.

Looks great
Those classic older arms have an appeal that is unique. Let us know how it shoots. All the best...

Sweet rifle, if it were mine I'd lose the glass. Nothin' like an iron sighted lever gun in the woods. The fact that it is a 35 makes the coolness meter swing even harder to the right peg.

Hard to tell by the photo, but if it is not a tip off, I would get a Weaver tip off mount. I have had one on my 444 since 1971. it returns to zero every time and gives you the ultimate options for a good woods rifle.
That 200 remington should shoot real well and be close to the 358 Win in a leaver gun. If you cast, try the RCBS FNGC 200 grain bullet. Ed

The "Texan" stock versions are harder to find. That's a good treasure.
When I was doing some gunsmithing for a little shop in MS back in the 70's we had one like that, in mint condition, traded in on a bolt gun. It sat in the rack for a year and the owner of the shop, during a slow time, offered it to me for $65. I put a scope on it to see how accurate it was and suffice to say it exceeded my expectations. I dont care too much for scopes on handy lever guns so I took that off and mounted a Williams Foolproof receiver sight on it and kept it. The .35 is a real sleeper....Frank Hamer always thought so and Bonnie and Clyde were impressed :-) Riposte

Billy A, I need the scope to see! Old eyes and irons don't work together all that well. I swapped the scope out for an old El Paso Weaver V4.5.
Yes Rapier, the mounts are Weaver tip offs. Shooting 220 grain factory Remington Core-Lokts, its giving me 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards, and less than 1 inch at 50 yards. I keep the scope set at 2.5X
