LOL Back in the days, there were no laws about non-toxic shot, there were a lot less cars on the roads and 40,000+ people a year didn't die in auto accidents, they didn't even make bicycle helmets back then, car seats for kids were pretty much non-existent, and plastic had yet to be invented. A .30-30 is still a great rifle for those closer shots and hunting in the brush, but it does not cut it when hunting over a wide open bean field. Now, a 10 gauge, or a 3 1/2" 12 gauge is way too much to shoot teal with. I tend to use 2 3/4", maybe 3" if that is all I have, for shooting teal.
